Sustainability in Business is more an opportunity than a threat

Sustainability is one of the most certain paths to innovation for companies seeking a competitive edge.

Business in a sustainable way

This policy aims to specify the responsibilities and provide principles that guide the organization on how to conduct the business in a sustainable way, creating shared value and ensuring long-term success for ControlKeeper. The Swedish annual accounts act (Årsredovisningslagen, SFS 1995:1554) stipulates requirements on sustainability matters to be covered in the annual reporting. The areas to be covered in the corporate governance report of the annual report or in a separate sustainability report is:

  • Environmental aspects
  • Social and Employee aspects
  • Anti-corruption and Human Rights aspects
  • Any other area deemed relevant in order to understand ControlKeeper’s development, position, result, and consequences of the operation

Policy statement

ControlKeeper shall conduct its business with respect and care for its stakeholder’s interests. ControlKeeper shall evaluate in what ways the company co-exists with and materially impacts its context (society and environment) and its stakeholders. The result from the analysis should be the foundation in formulating ControlKeeper's sustainability strategy.

Sustainability strategy

The overall long-term approach to managing our environmental work is outlined below:

  • Purchasing: Environmental aspects shall always be evaluated when selecting suppliers, contractors, products, and/or services.
  • Transportation: ControlKeeper shall evaluate environmental aspects related to transportation, deliveries and business travel. Environmentally friendly, low-emissions and fuel-efficient alternatives shall be evaluated in decisions regarding changes in car fleet.
  • Energy and water use: ControlKeeper shall seek to reduce the energy usage and water consumption with a view of decreasing our environmental footprint.
  • Waste including hazardous waste: ControlKeeper seeks to ensure that waste, including hazardous waste, is managed in an environmentally friendly way that reduces any negative impact on the environment, health or human well-being. Controlkeeper shall comply with all relevant environmental legislation and other environmental requirements.

ControlKeeper’s sustainability strategy shall be aligned with the business strategy and thereby be an integral part of the organization. ControlKeeper shall involve different stakeholders through e.g., discussions, interviews and surveys.The sustainability strategy should be revised when needed or at least every three years.

Sustainability reporting

The information presented in the sustainability report should be balanced, comparable, accurate, timely, clear and reliable. It should cover previously mentioned areas, business model, relevant policies and the result of policies, sustainability risk, business risks, risk management, and performance indicators (qualitative or quantitative). Chosen quantitative performance indicators should be clearly defined, comparable and consistent over time.

Roles and responsibilities

ControlKeeper’s CEO has the overall responsibility for developing the sustainability strategy and its implementation in the organization. The CEO is responsible for approving the sustainability strategy to ensure that it is aligned with the overall business strategy. Activities needed to implement the strategy will be performed through daily operations. The business development department is responsible for coordinating the work and quality check the sustainability report.

Exceptions

Any need for exceptions to this policy must be clearly defined and documented. All exceptions shall be approved by the CEO and communicated to the employees.
